About:

Scw'exmx Child and Family Services Society (SCFSS) has been providing child protection and support services to the Nicola Valley since 1994. Scw'exmx means "People of the Creek" in the Thompson language.

SCFSS is a fully delegated child protection agency and receives funding from both the Ministry of Child and Family Development and Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada. SCFSS has a responsibility to comply with provincial and federal legislation, but also works closely with the 5 member bands to ensure that the needs of the communities are being met. While the protection of children is the agency's highest priority, SCFSS utilizes a preventative approach, providing culturally based support services that give families the tools to help them stay together.

Member Bands:

Scw’exmx Child and Family Services Society (SCFSS) provide services to the 5 bands of the Nicola Valley. The 5 bands are members of the Nlaka'pamux and Syilx Nations.

Board of Directors:

SCFSS has quarterly meetings with the Chiefs of the 5 bands and also meets once a month with band appointed members who make up the Agency's Board of Directors
