FAMILY GROUP CONFERENCE
The Family Group Conference (FGC) is where we can gather with extended family to talk about the concerns we have for their child or young person and find solutions that work in their best interest.
Each family meeting is distinct because the family will help decide how the meeting will be run.
Within each meeting, the family will be provided with information about the concerns the social worker has for the child and why they think the child may be at risk, or in need of care and protection. Together, we look at what’s already been done to help the child and family, what has worked, what hasn’t and work towards a plan.
The family has time on their own to talk about the concerns, come up with ideas, and begin creating a plan so their child can be safely cared for.
The plan needs everyone’s support regarding the concerns that will be dealt with and ways to help the child in a realistic manner.
